Cleanliness Drive

There where special efforts have been taken to make the town clean, green and prosperous. Solid waste Management through people's participation to encourage community participation

a) Public Awareness:
Public awareness was created among the people through ward wise meetings and organizing rallies, health camps, and poster competitions

b) Segregation of Dry and Wet garbage at site through:
1) distribution of red and green colour plastic buckets
2) twin colours garbage bins
3) collection of garbage from each house 4) Separation of plastic from the garbage

c) Mechanization:
Use of appropriate but low cost machinery made the cleaning work more effective.
1) Sweeping Machine
2) Container carrier
3) Vacuum emptier
4) High pressure jetting unit.

d) Decentralized garbage processing:
1) Vermiculture units at 5 places covering all five geographical wards
2) Composting unit to compost market waste
3) New site development for dry waste

e) Waste water recycling:
1) Waste water stopped from entering the river by using simple earthen bunds filtered and used for maintaining lawns of the cricket ground and running tracks, remaining water for agricultural purpose.
2) Use of water hyacinth to clean the water.
3) upgrading of existing open drain system thereby avoiding water clogging.
